Focusing only on outcomes doesn’t work because our brains get overwhelmed very quickly when we think of all the stuff we need to do in a given situation. Regardless of our forethought, we never know how a situation will turn out until it arrives in time, therefore our anxiety is unproductive. When we get overwhelmed, it’s easy to shut down, get sloppy, or make mistakes and which leads to stress, anxiety, and pressure to spiral out of control.
